Free replacement of non-condensing Boiler to Condensing Boiler under the government’s ECO Scheme

Combi Boiler replacements are no more available under the new Eco scheme. However, if you have an old energy-sapping noncondensing boilers we can replace them under the eco4 scheme with a modern condensing model which are energy efficient, to help households lower their fuel bills. Only gas boilers are eligible: if you have an electric, oil or LPG boiler you won’t be able to apply for a boiler grant.

Under the scheme, we will supply and fit a brand-new boiler at no cost to the customer. However, in some instances customers may be required to cover the cost of any extras found to be necessary.

Condensing vs Non-condensing Boiler

A non-condensing boiler has a single heat exchanger chamber, where the hot gases from the burner, pass through to heat the water within the walls of that exchanger, before reaching the exit flue.

It is likely you will qualify if:

  • You own your home (or, in some cases, rent from private landlord; landlord permission needed)
  • You meet the benefits related criteria and your current boiler is at least 7 years old (not condensing), you could qualify. It’s as simple as that.

Boiler Replacement FAQs

  • How to tell if you have a non-condensing boiler?

    If you have a white plastic pipe coming out at the bottom of your boiler it is a condensing boiler. Another way to tell is your flue (exhaust) if this is plastic it’s a condensing high efficiency boiler, if it’s all metal it is a non-condensing boiler.

  • Can I get my Boiler replaced for free?

    Unfortunately, combi Boiler Replacement Grants are no longer available to both homeowners and tenants in privately rented homes.

    If you are a tenant in council owned homes, in housing association homes and householders living in shared ownership homes do not qualify for the scheme.

  • Will I have to contribute to the cost?

    If you are looking for a non-condensing  Boiler Replacement with a condensing boiler the grants will cover the full cost or majority of the cost depending on the work.

    However, in some cases you may have to contribute. When we carry out our initial free survey of the property, we will be able to find out if you need to contribute.

  • I don’t receive any of the qualifying benefits. Can I still apply?

    If you require a new boiler for your house or a tenanted property outside the scheme, we can provide you a new energy efficient boiler at a very competitive rate.   • I don’t receive any of the qualifying benefits but someone in my home does, can I still apply?

    Generally, yes.

    If someone who is permanently resident in your home receives one of the qualifying benefits, we can still help. Non – condensing Boiler Replacement Grants application will have to be in their name, and you will need to prove that they live with you on a permanent basis.

    Also, your address must be registered as their address with the Department of Work and Pensions so that their benefit letters have your address on them.

  • What if I don’t have a gas supply to my home?

    Boiler Replacement Grants do not cover the cost of installing a gas supply to your home. If there is no gas supply available in your house, you can contact gas suppliers in your area and get it connected free conditional to their T & Cs.

  • What does a Boiler Replacement Grants cover?

    Non-condensing Boiler Replacement Grants cover the cost of supplying and installing a new boiler, any necessary pipework and heating control systems.

  • How long does it take for a Boiler Replacement installation in my home?

    For government funded ECO scheme, when the initial contact is made, we will call you back to assess to discuss your situation and the qualifying criteria.

    If you qualify, we carry out an electronic check with the DWP to confirm some data. This process can take between 3 to 5 days.

    Once it has been confirmed that you qualify, a survey of your home and existing boiler will be carried out. This normally takes place within a week or so of receiving DWP confirmation.

    We will then book your boiler installation at your convenient time.

    For non-funded replacement you can have your new boiler installed within 5 days.

Under the current ECO scheme, you can qualify for replacement of non- condensing to a condensing boiler free if you’re eligible to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Check if you are eligible.
